China Sees Drop in Refined Copper Imports in Feb. China, the world's largest copper consumer, saw its imports of refined copper decreased 28.2% year on year to 158,185 tons in February 2011, according to the statistics released by the General Administration of Customs.
The February figure is 36% less than that in January, 2011, when the country imported 245,617 metric tons of refined copper.
In the first two months of this 2011, China's refined copper imports dropped 3.3% year on year to 403,802 metric tons, said the customs.
The customs also announced that the country imported 398,257 metric tons of copper concentrates last month, down 30% year on year, or 30% less than that in January, 2011.
During the period from January to February, 2011, the country's imports of copper concentrates dropped 17% year on year to 969,263 metric tons.
